Free kicks: what was chosen and what happened
Clubs
In the MRC app a free kick has its own button next to Penalty. Record who it was given to, what the team chose and, after a tap, what happened, so free kicks count in possession, set piece, discipline and the match report.
- Tap Free kick and choose the team it was given to. The pitch zone above the teams is optional.
- If the match has a law set, the app asks what it was for: a scrum or line-out offence, or another free-kick offence of that set. Skip it if you are not sure.
- Tap what the team chose: Quick tap, Tap and go, Kick to touch (the other team throws in), Kick in play or Scrum. The offender is optional: tap Choose, then the number.
- After a tap the app asks what happened: kept the ball, turnover, upgraded to a penalty, free kick lost (reversed) or a try. You can also mark the play: running, pick and go, maul or passed wide. Skip it if you did not see it.
- Upgraded to a penalty takes you straight to the penalty question for the same team, for example when the other team did not retire 10 metres. Both entries are kept and linked.
- After a free kick taken as a scrum, kicked to touch or lost, the set piece that follows appears above the buttons: one tap records it.
