Recording depth and player actions
Clubs
Before kick-off, choose how much the MRC app records: Quick, Standard or Analyst. Analyst adds player actions, such as carries with metres, tackles, rucks and line breaks, for the running, defence and breakdown numbers in the report and on the website.
- On Get ready, under How much to record?, tap Quick, Standard or Analyst. A club match starts at Standard and a Quick Match at Quick. The choice is fixed at kick-off.
- At Analyst depth the recording screen has two views: Match events and Player actions. Under Player actions, tap a player’s number and then the action, or the action and then the number.
- A carry asks how it went: over the gain line, stopped at the line, driven back, a line break, an offload, the ball lost or a try. The metres and the defenders beaten are optional chips above and below.
- A tackle asks whether it was dominant, a ruck whether the ball was kept, a jackal whether it won the ball. Skip any question you did not see. A missed tackle, line break, offload, defender beaten or pass needs only the player.
- The match report fills in carries, metres, gain line, tackles, rucks and jackals for both teams, adds the Running and Breakdown groups to the players table, and shows each player’s running, defence and breakdown.
- With a second phone, open the same match with Get ready and tick This phone records player actions only. The first phone keeps the score, the cards and the clock.
- From video: after the final whistle and before you confirm the match, type the match time (minute and second) and tap the action.
- Player actions never change the score or the likely-next suggestions. On the Timeline they have their own filter, Player actions.
