Young players: parents and guardians

FAQs

Where the law in a player's country requires it for their age, a parent or guardian must agree first.

  1. When a young player joins, they give a parent's or guardian's email address if their country's rules require it for their age.
  2. Once the young player has finished joining, we email that person a link. The profile is out of the directory, out of search and cannot be messaged until they agree.
  3. The parent or guardian opens the link and chooses to agree or decline.
  4. Everybody else sees U18 instead of a young player's age, and never a young player's pictures. A young player's height, weight and region are shown only to clubs, verified coaches and those the young player approved, and their display name and bio cannot hold a phone number, email address, link or social media name.
  5. Later, if the young player takes a place in a club's squad, we email the same parent or guardian which club, team and season. The email's link opens a page where one press ends the place; it works once, for 60 days.
  • Only a club or a verified coach can start a conversation with somebody under 18 or ask for their details. The young player can still write to any coach or club.
