Recording offences and timing in the MRC app
Clubs
Record which law was broken, free kicks, scrum and lineout sanctions and head-contact reviews, and time conversions, lineouts and scrums, under the law set of your competition.
- When a law set is published, a row of offence buttons appears after a penalty or a card: tap one to add the offence, or simply carry on. More… opens the full list, with search by law number or words. In Settings you can have the offence asked inside the Penalty and Card entries instead.
- Use Law (under More) for a free kick, a scrum or lineout sanction, play on, or a head-contact review. Choose the offence, the team that offended and, if you know it, the player. A review asks for its outcome; a card follows when it is yellow or red.
- After a try, the header counts down the conversion time of your law set (60 seconds under the global law trials, 90 otherwise). A penalty kicked to touch, or the Touch button, starts the lineout clock; a knock-on or forward pass starts the scrum clock. The time is saved with the entry and a breach is flagged.
- Get ready shows the laws your match is recorded under. Your club chooses them per team, competition or fixture; the match keeps them for good, even after the laws change.
- In Settings you can switch off the offence question, switch on the ball-in-play button for a second recorder, choose the law set for a Quick Match and check for law updates.
- The app works offline: the law set is kept on the phone, and Demo Mode uses a built-in copy.
- Only law numbers and our own short names are stored, never the text of the laws.
