Ask for help: the help assistant
FAQs
A quick way to the right help from any page. It runs on your own device: nothing you type is sent or saved, and it is not AI.
- Press "Ask for help" at the bottom right of any page (on a phone, the round button with a question mark).
- It suggests common questions and the help articles for the page you are on. Pick one, or type your own question and press Ask.
- Each answer gives a short summary and the steps, with "Open the full article" and, where it helps, "Take me there" to open the right page. You make any change yourself: the assistant cannot change anything for you.
- If it is not sure, it says so and shows the closest articles, with Contact support.
- If a question is about somebody's safety, it shows what to do straight away: if anybody is in immediate danger, contact the police first.
- Press Escape or Close to close it. What you asked is gone when you leave or reload the page.
- It searches this Help Centre and a list of common questions inside your browser. What you type is never sent to us or to anybody else, and is not stored on your device.
- The MRC app has its own "Ask for help", which works without signal.
